Rotary Club Welcomes New President, Celebrates Global Impact
At a recent club meeting, Assistant Governor and Club Executive Secretary Stan Gilbert honored outgoing President Ed Kent for his exceptional leadership and service, presenting him with gifts in appreciation of his tenure. The club also welcomed incoming President Dave Segars, who took the oath of office during a special installation ceremony.
President Segars shared insights from a recent club survey and outlined proposed goals for the year ahead. With several exciting global initiatives on the horizon, he emphasized the club’s commitment to measurable impact, echoing Rotary Founder Paul Harris’s vision: “Whatever Rotary may mean to us, to the world it will be known by the results it achieves.”
The club also had the privilege of hosting Solita Okure, a visiting Rotarian from Uganda. Selected by the U.S. Embassy as part of the prestigious Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) at the University of Virginia, Solita is a nurse and the founder of the Emerald Foundation—a nonprofit organization that mobilizes over 500 volunteers to provide holistic in-home care for the elderly in Uganda. With a new leader at the helm and global partnerships taking shape, the club looks forward to a year of meaningful service and lasting impact.
